A Sip of Paradise: The 5 Best Wineries in Mallorca
As far back as the Phoenicians, people appreciated the Balearics’ climatic conditions for producing wine, which give it a unique bouquet. That viticulture has a long tradition in Mallorca can still be felt today. Let one of the many wonderful wineries in Mallorca introduce you to the history of Mallorcan wine—and feel free to taste a glass or two…
Aside from its breathtaking beaches and delicious food, Mallorca has also been a highly regarded wine region for many centuries. There are several wineries in and around Palma that are worth a visit. All in all, Mallorca can boast more than 70 wineries. That naturally doesn’t make choosing a winery tour any easier. That’s why I’ve put together what are, in my opinion, the five most impressive wineries for you:

Macia Batle is a family-run winery in Mallorca. The winery was founded in 1856 and remains family-owned to this day. The fourth generation of the Batle family is already at the helm. Over the years, Macia Batle has established itself as one of the leading wineries in Mallorca and produces high-quality wines using modern techniques and traditional methods.
The Macia Batle winery is located in the town of Santa Maria del Cami in the heart of Mallorca. The estate’s vineyards stretch across 130 hectares of land and are home to a wide variety of grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay. The vineyards lie at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain range, which offers a unique microclimate that is ideal for growing high-quality grapes.
Macia Batle offers a variety of tour options, including a guided tour through the vineyards and the winery, followed by a wine tasting.

The Jose L Ferrer winery was founded in 1931 and is located in the town of Binissalem on the island of Mallorca. The Ferrer family has managed to refine and pass on its craft over generations in order to produce wines of the highest quality. The winery and vineyards together cover an area of around 140 hectares, where various grape varieties such as Manto Negro, Callet, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay are grown.
One of Jose L Ferrer’s best-known wines is the Crianza. This red wine is made from the Manto Negro grape variety and is aged for at least 12 months in French oak barrels. The wine has an intense flavour of red fruits and spices and is very well balanced.
In addition to a cellar tour, José L. Ferrer also offers a variety of other experiences, including excellent wine tastings with local specialities. A visit to José L. Ferrer is a great way to learn about the history and culture of viticulture on the island of Mallorca and to taste some of the delicious wines produced there.

Founded in 1711 and family-owned since 1836, Bodega Ribas is today one of the best-known and most respected wineries on the island. The history of Bodega Ribas began more than 300 years ago, when the Ribas family came to Mallorca from Catalonia and started growing wine. The family quickly found success, and viticulture became the family’s core business. The Bodega Ribas estate was subsequently expanded and modernised over time, without neglecting the old traditions. This wine, too, is an absolute quality wine.
The vineyards of Bodega Ribas extend over an area of around 40 hectares and are located near the town of Consell in the heart of Mallorca. The climate here is Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters—ideal for viticulture. Today, Bodega Ribas mainly produces red wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Manto Negro, Callet and Fogoneu, as well as international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
A special highlight at Bodega Ribas is the so-called “Taller de Vino”, a kind of wine workshop where visitors can experience the various steps of winemaking up close. Here, you can learn about work in the vineyard and proper storage, get to know the different grape varieties and their characteristics, and finally taste the finished wine. An unforgettable experience for any wine lover!

The winery was realised in 2014 by the renowned Mallorcan architect Rafael Munar, who focuses on integrating architecture with the Mediterranean landscape.
When this still relatively young winery was founded, there was just one premise: the production of high-quality wines using the latest technology. The bodega is located in the heart of the island, near the town of Montuiri, and is surrounded by the picturesque landscape of the region. With its unique architecture and modern facilities, the bodega has, in a short time, become one of the most popular wineries in Mallorca.
The history of Bodega Vi Rei goes back to 2004, when a group of wine lovers decided to establish a winery in Mallorca. They chose the area around Montuiri because of its ideal climate and special soil composition. After many years of planning and preparation, the bodega finally opened in 2014. The architecture of Bodega Vi Rei is unique and impressive.
Visitors to Bodega Vi Rei can take part in a guided tour of the wine cellar and learn all about how the wines are made. They can also taste various wines and see for themselves the quality and flavour. The bodega also offers various events, such as wine tastings, wine evenings, or tastings combined with a visit to the wine cellar and the vineyards.

Finca Binigual, an idyllic place in the heart of Mallorca.
Biniagual, a hamlet from the Moorish era, lies in the middle of the Binissalem wine-growing region. The traditional Mallorcan country estate includes 14 houses, a chapel, a historic wine cellar, a vinoteca, as well as a complete, typically Mallorcan agricultural operation. At Bodega Biniagual, the history of viticulture, charming landscapes, modern winemaking methods, traditional architecture and the beauty of nature come together.
For wine lovers in search of an unforgettable experience, Bodega Binigual is an absolute must. The wines are of the highest quality, and the tour through the vineyards is a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Mallorcan landscape. Visitors will be impressed by the hospitality and will certainly return home with a bottle or two of the excellent wine from Bodega Binigual.
