Predator Team helps SOS Mamas. Two of our colleagues supported SOS Mamas, a charitable organization in Palma, in their spare time.

A few weeks ago, we acquired a house in Puerto d´Andratx. Very nice location; on the ground floor there is currently a restaurant, and we are converting the two upper-floor apartments into two penthouse apartments. Fantastic view. Direct first-line location. And yet within walking distance of the town.

But Mallorca is not only luxury. Far more people here are struggling economically than we can imagine in Germany. Not only because of the dependence on tourism and, “thanks” to Corona. Also because the social safety net is much thinner than in other countries. That’s why we started charity projects a few months ago and also founded the “Fundacio Predator”, a non-profit foundation—I’ll be writing about that soon!

The apartments in the property were sold to us furnished. Normally, we then sell the furniture. And whatever can’t be sold is cleared out. Miguel Angel, our project engineer, had an idea: Why don’t we donate the furniture? And then we’ll clear out the rest as usual. Great idea! After Miguel Angel did some research, he got in touch with Ascen Maestre, the founder of SOS Mamas.

She immediately had a few families in mind, and they agreed to pick up the furniture on Saturday. But furniture doesn’t just fly into the truck—you have to carry it through stairwells. And unfortunately, there aren’t unlimited helping hands here either. So Miguel Angel and Pilar, our interior designer, decided to help in a very practical way.

Saturday at 10:00 a.m. we got started. And by 1:00 p.m. the truck was actually full. And hopefully a few families could be helped. The team still has sore muscles today, but that’s not really supposed to be harmful 😉

A heartfelt thank-you from me to the two of them. I think it’s great not to “just” donate money, but to invest your own time and effort to do something good!

It’s exactly this kind of commitment that we are thankfully seeing more and more here. Organizations like SOS Mamas, founded by former intensive care nurse Ascen Maestre, are now helping over 10,000 people make ends meet. And we were impressed by how much the founder and her husband themselves rolled up their sleeves on Saturday!

My request to you: Please help too! As a company, we will also support SOS Mamas in the future; if you would like to get involved, feel free to do so directly or reach out to me! The help doesn’t seep away here—it arrives where it’s truly needed!

A small update from January 2022. Last month we founded our foundation and endowed it with €250,000 in capital. The website is 90% finished—take a look. We look forward to your feedback!
