WiP 09 – The Persianas are here!

The Persianas are here and they look great! We’re also testing the windows for watertightness … take a look!

Are the windows actually watertight?

Before my vacation, I checked the water drainage as well as the windows’ watertightness. To do that, we ordered a truckload of water and connected a drainage pipe to have enough pressure and simulate extremely heavy rainfall.
The splashing around was also a bit of fun. You can see the pleasing result for yourselves in the video!

The Persianas are here!

Today I was finally able to take a look at the Mallorcan shutters (“Persianas”). They were lacquered and installed by our carpentry workshop.
In line with the color concept we developed two years ago.
Otherwise, the interior fit-out is progressing. The railings have been installed in the stairwells; they still need to be lacquered.
The interior doors are half finished; we’ve already started quality control.
Door without inner workings
As you can see, the technical inner components haven’t been installed yet; they will of course be matte black. That said, you can clearly see the small dents and damage that still need to be touched up.
Overall, I really, really like the color and the grain. The walnut wood feels friendlier thanks to the open-pore texture that we discussed with the carpenter.
Then, after I did a watertightness test of the large windows to the terrace before my vacation, we had the ventilation openings of the half-basement reworked once again. That looked good today!
Also new—certainly not that important, but it does look cool—is the new construction site sign 😉
With the kitchens, there are delivery issues with the induction cooktops, but we’re optimistic we’ll be able to resolve that.
We expect the bathroom furniture at the end of May. As of now, we’re on schedule 🙂
Wishing you a wonderful week,
Yours, Arnd
